Why Every Speaker Needs a 'One Page' marketing flier (and How to Create Yours)

What Is a Speaker One Page?
A Speaker 'One Page' (sometimes called a marketing flier or Speaker Packet) is a concise, visually appealing snapshot of you and your expertise. It highlights your credibility, your signature talks, and why you’re the right choice.
When I first started speaking, I only had a One Page. Today, I have a complete Speaker Packet—different versions for corporate, collegiate, and bureau-friendly use. Each serves a purpose, and each has helped me get booked for speaking engagements over and over.
Here’s the truth: if you don’t have what other speakers do, you’ll be overlooked. So ask yourself—what’s it costing you not to have one?
With the right marketing flier, you could be speaking much more. And here’s the best part—you don’t even need years of experience or dozens of past speeches to create one. So lack of experience can’t be your excuse.
In this post, I’ll share samples of mine, plus tips on how to design or upgrade yours so you can stand out to decision-makers and book more PAID speaking engagements.
Why Your One Page Matters
From my experience, paid speakers can be selected by a wide variety of people: meeting planners, executives, HR directors, bureau reps, student councils, school leadership, and more.
Here’s the kicker: they don’t select the best speaker—they rule everyone else out until one is left standing.
That’s why positioning matters. If you’re not presenting yourself with a great speech and professional materials (i.e. website, demo video and One Page), you’ll get overlooked by those speakers who DO.
Most speakers struggle because they don’t realize they’re constantly being compared. So rule yourself IN by helping rule other speakers OUT!
Tips for Creating a Speaker One Page
Study other speakers’ samples. Look online, see what works, and model the best.
Focus on content first. Get your copy tight and polished before design.
Don’t DIY unless you’re a designer. It will show. Hire a professional.
Make content universal. Ensure it appeals to multiple audiences.
Create two versions. A standard and a bureau-friendly version (without your contact info).
Include 3 talk options. Variety matters—see my packet for examples.
Be crystal clear on your call-to-action. What do you want the planner to do next?
Elements Every One Page Should Include:
Professional headshots (multiple)
Action photos of you speaking
Consistent branding (colors, logo, fonts)
Testimonials
Short bio (under 100 words)
Client logos (yes, even unpaid clients count)
Sample presentation titles (no more than 4 - ideally 3)
Short program descriptions (50–75 words each)
2-3 learning outcomes for each presentation
Clear call-to-action (watch your video, email, visit website, etc.)
Your website / contact information
Other images such as your book and/or credentials
Who Should Design It?
Please don’t design it yourself. Respectfully—it’ll look like it. Invest in a professional designer. The cost of one speaking engagement will pay for it tenfold.
Another option is Fiverr or UpWork, but be cautious. While affordable, you’ll need to be extremely clear on your vision to avoid an end product that looks “cheap.”
Make sure your designer also understands the difference between a 'Speaker One Page' and and a non-speaker-centric 'One Page.'
Real-Life Examples
I’ve included links to my different versions below:
Standard Packet
Bureau-Friendly Version (notice the missing contact info?)
Collegiate Version
Student Marketing Flier (CAMPUSPEAK)
I’ve also shared my cringe-worthy DIY version from 2015 (ouch!) alongside my current professionally designed version. The difference speaks for itself.
Final Thoughts
Your One Page is not optional. It’s essential. Without one, you’re costing yourself time, money, and opportunities.

Kevin's Speaker Packet samples
Bureau-friendly version (notice the difference?)
Collegiate version (eekkk! Not so good but at the time it kinda worked)
Below is one of my One page versions I did on my own back in 2015 .... eeekkk!!! Can't you tell? :)
At the time, I thought it was OK and I spent 10+ hours creating it. Ouch!

Now compare that above version to the version below which my designer created ... and below is just the 1st page!

Below is my "Bureau-friendly" version which removes all my contact information. This is what bureaus and many speaker agents need when pitching me as a speaker. What do you notice differently?
If you don't have a bureau-friendly version, you will have less likelihood of being referred by a meeting planner or bureau! Click here or the image below to view my entire bureau-friendly version.
And below is a sample of one of my student marketing fliers from CAMPUSPEAK ... click this link to see the entire flier or the image below.
I sincerely hope these samples, tips and design elements equip and motivate you to either get your One Page done OR improve it to the next professional level! I'm here to help if you're willing to take A.C.T.ion.
