Here's how I just landed my HIGHEST PAID speaking engagement eva'! 🔥

Whether it's an audience member in one of my presentations or one of my speaker coaching clients, what juices me is helping people get clarity on their goals and equipped to reach them. When I write these messages for you, I'm always motivated by something that just happened in my own speaking business that I feel is important to share. From my experience coaching speakers, most new(er) speakers make a LOT of bad assumptions that hold them back. They "ass-u-me" things that just aren't true.

Just yesterday I was selected for the largest PAID speaking engagement I've ever had. More so, it's for a conference in my ideal target audience that 'should' have incredible spin-off potential. This one (1) event could and should be another breakthrough at the next level because the audience is going to be decision-makers. But I don't write this to impress you ... rather, to impress upon you that I'm no different than you. There are things YOU could be doing today to make yourself better and create momentum and progress. For some of you, it's making the decision to commit. For others, it's accountability. For others, it's knowing the process to find PAID speaking engagements. For most though, it's just pushing through the excuses. You have them. I have them too. My own coach (yes, I proudly have one!) calls me out every month on something! But let's get into 'how' I just landed the largest speaking engagement ever ... mid 5-figures!

  1. The meeting planner saw me speak 3 years ago at an event. (3 years ago!)

  2. This specific leadership newsletter I sent in February 2022 (click here to view!) offered an invite to attend a complimentary virtual keynote for a women's leadership conference where I was speaking. The meeting planner registered and watched it. (click here to subscribe so you can see how I get opt-in's to my newsletter AND future newsletter samples)

  3. At the time of my virtual keynote, they did not have a speaker need for any upcoming events ... UNTIL last week! (Remember, they don't need a speaker until ... they need a speaker!)

  4. I was one (1) of five (5) speakers they forwarded along to the client whom they are organizing the conference.

  5. I differentiated myself and sent a video email (BombBomb) to the meeting planner. (See my NEW Online Course for samples!)

  6. The client liked all of the speakers ... but they selected me last Friday.

  7. During our 'Happy Call' yesterday, after small talk and building rapport with the client, I asked, "What is it about my program or me that influenced your decision?" Their response was, "Your video email impressed us. But your demo video sold us. You have the energy we need to be the closing keynote."

So folks, here's the thing ... it wasn't just ONE THING that 'earned' me this speaking engagement. It was several 'things' ... and specifically, it was knowing the strategies I needed to position myself as a professional speaker and then doing them to the best of my ability:

  • having a great speech

  • having an opt-in on my newsletter that feeds subscribers to my newsletter

  • sending out my newsletter

  • helping promote events where I'm already speaking (especially virtual ones -- awesome exposure)

  • having a pretty good website

  • having a pretty good demo video
