My personal philosophy is that NOTHING happens by accident. Everything in life has a purpose; either in what happens to us OR in how we USE what happens to us for the betterment of ourselves and others.

... my speaking career started on June 2, 2002. It was the worst keynote of my life. I bombed. I still remember nearly walking off stage.

After that keynote, I realized I had no clue what I was doing. Speaking was much more difficult and intimidating than I expected. I certainly didn't know how to make $$ doing it.

But I knew there was something inside me bigger than me. I knew I had experiences to help others, because I got through depression, abuse, and being arrested. I had a message that would inspire others who needed it like I did many years before.

I remember watching a keynote speaker in college who changed my life. It wasn't until years later that I realized the speaker planted a "speaker seed" in me that night. Years later, he would become my speaking mentor.

Watching that speaker, he helped me realize I could get beyond the junk and mental head trash I had carried with me up until that point. In just 60 short minutes of his presentation, I was ready to leave my baggage behind and use it for good.

So years later, after my first, horrible keynote, I knew I had to start treating my speaking differently. I realized speaking was a craft. I realized speaking was a business ... I and I knew nothing about it.

Up until that point, I realized I had been treating my speaking like a hobby. No wonder I earned a hobby income.

So I started taking it seriously. I started getting serious about getting better, and I surrounded myself by other mentors and speakers who could help me. I read books. I attended seminars.

Within 1 year, my speaking became a part-time business.

Within 3 years, I started making more $$$ than my full-time job.

Within 9 years, I quit that full-time job to speak full-time on my own.

I've never looked back. Since June 2, 2002, I've keynoted for over 500,000 people through 1,150 organizations in all 50 states and numerous countries. I'm honored and humbled to do what I do.

Knowing what I know now, I could have done things MUCH SOONER. If only ...

It's all good. I'm exactly where I need to be right now. Everything I've been through has prepared me for when I'm at right now ... with you.

2017 has been the best speaking year of my life ... in all aspects. In making a difference, changing lives, expanding my brand, reaching every milestone I've ever dreamed, and, oh yes, making more $$$ than I ever thought possible.

... and guess what? 2018 looks even better already.
